PM: Gas deal will bring 'energy independence' to Israel

Another article surfaced today regarding Israel's new found vast energy reserves of natural gas. We already know that extensive oil has been found off the shores of Israel as well. The importance of this in Bible prophecy is that it could help explain the Ezekiel 38-39 motivation for the future Russian-led invasion of the Holy Land. With the recent drops in the price of oil, it has hurt many oil producing countries around the world right squarely in the pocketbook. This of course includes Russia, who stands to lose a lot by the increase of new found oil and natural gas supplies into the markets.
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu expressed today at a cabinet meeting the importance of the new found energy reserves on the future of Israel. The Israel Nation News reports that:
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed Israel's multibillion dollar gas deal with US energy giant Noble Energy at the start of his Cabinet meeting on Sunday. "Today we are taking a major step toward advancing the supply of gas in the State of Israel," he declared. "Natural gas will be the number one growth engine in Israel in the coming years."
"We are talking about an investment of very many billions of dollars already over the next two years and the creation of related industries, which will provide many jobs for the citizens of Israel."
"The gas supply will help lower energy costs and the cost of living," Netanyahu added. "It also gives energy independence to Israel. We will not be dependent on foreign energy sources - this is very important for the State Israel. It will pump hundreds of billions of shekels, over the next 20 years, to the citizens of Israel, to the social welfare, education and health budgets - which is very important to the country."
As we can see Israel is poised to gain quite a lot from these new found energy sources within their territory. To add these mega-finds of natural energy with the already priceless amount of minerals, etc. from the Dead Sea and we can see that the modern day Israel is definitely becoming a "spoil" in the eyes of its enemies. Especially Russia and Iran. The prophet Ezekiel records this regarding the "spoil" that will enter the minds of Israel's enemies:
"Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee. Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land." - Ezekiel 38-9-12
As the fighting rages on in Syria and elsewhere, I believe that we need to keep an eye on the major players in the Ezekiel 38-39 conflict with suspicion. I have a feeling somehow the war against the ISIS could potentially lead to Ezekiel 38-39 conflict. It is not clear at this moment exactly how these enemies will go about turning against Israel, but it is clear from the Bible that they will. The two main players in the Ezekiel 38-39 conflict are Russia and Iran. Turkey is another important player as well, as Turkey's Erdogan has displayed quite a contempt for the Israelis. With all of them currently fighting next door to Israel, it is not hard to see how if they were to subdue or defeat ISIS that they could turn their focus on Israel afterwards.
Russia has invested a lot in the Syria fighting and it is hard for me to see them packing up and leaving anytime soon. I believe Russia is in Syria for the long haul and ultimately that will lead to them getting the "evil thought" mentioned by the prophet Ezekiel. This will of course lead them to meeting the "God of Israel" as he supernaturally intervenes to save Israel from certain defeat.
The Middle East is a powder keg waiting to explode. From the increased violence in Israel between the Jews and the so called "Palestinians" to the fighting in Syria and Iraq. It is my opinion that we need to watch with renewed interest as the story develops in the Middle East. As we see the prophetic puzzle pieces coming together, meaning the players mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39 being engaged militarily next door to Israel, it should cause us to sit up and take note.
Keep watching for the fulfillment of prophecy and of course for the blessed hope of the rapture of the church. Verily, it is at the doors!
