Iranian President Ahmadinejad Goes to Lebanon
Rapture Forum Staff: Chris
Today is the the day that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Lebanon for an official visit that was reported to have included a schedule "throwing of a stone at Israel" and what the U.S. is calling a provocation. Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon was to cement the bonds of friendship among the Lebanese as well as with the Iranian proxy terrorist organization Hezbollah. Hezbollah is simply another terrorist organization that is financed and controlled by the mullahs in Tehran. This is also true in regards to the Gaza based Hamas terrorist group as well. The Jerusalem Post is reporting on Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon:
Hizbullah held a General Assembly meeting and mass rally in Beirut on Wednesday evening, in honor of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahamdinejad who is on a two-day visit to the country.
Speaking to the assembled supporters at the event via an interpreter, Ahmadinejad praised Lebanon for being an "example" and called it a "university for Jihad." Lebanon and Iran, he said, are "two nations that love each other and have much in common," primarily the fight against Israel. He went on to speak about the "Zionist regime," attacking Israel for "the massacre of innocent people" and "violations of international law."
In order to show his support and influence in the country, Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying:
Earlier on Wednesday, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that,"The United States supports the integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon. We reject any efforts to destabilize or inflame tensions within Lebanon," AFP reported. Ahmadinejad met with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman shortly after his arrival.
“We support Lebanon fully, and we call for the liberation of occupied lands in Lebanon and in Syria,” the Iranian President said. Ahmadinejad said of Lebanon, "I feel like I am at home, like I am in my country."
With Hezbollah firmly in place both politically and militarily in Lebanon, it is no wonder that the Iranian President feels at home in Lebanon. As the article illustrates there is a growing chorus of concern that the Iranians are taking over the country so much that Lebanon could lose their sovereignty. The U.S. for it's part called the Iranian President's visit in the region as a "provocation" as it undermines the Lebanese peoples ability to control their own country. This control has be eroded so much that some reports earlier in the week were indicating that another civil war could be in the making as Iran and it's proxies try to muscle their way into the leadership of Lebanon. Ordinary Lebanese civilians are concerned that the country will explode again into a situation that ultimately drove the Syrians forces from the country several years ago. The YNetNews reports:
The Obama administration expressed its suspicion that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon shows that he continues in his provocative ways. White House spokesperson Robert Gibbs said Wednesday that Ahmadinjad has lead his country to a state of deep financial crisis as result of his actions, which have lead to international sanctions against Iran.
The official visit of Iranian President Ahmadinejad has spurred concerned that Lebanon is becoming more and more fanatical and aligned with the "axis of terror" over the last year or so. This is talked about in a Haaretz newspaper article that reports:
Israel's main efforts concentrated on the conveying of diplomatic messages to the Lebanese government via the U.S., France the United Nations, among them the demand to avoid provocations along the border.
Israel's stance, which has been clearly expressed over recent days, is that Ahmadinejad's visit proves that Lebanon is becoming more extreme, on its way to becoming an Iranian outpost. "Lebanon has joined the axis of extreme nations which object to the peace process and support terror," said a senior Israeli official involved in preparations for the two-day visit.
The current Lebanese PM Saad Hariri is seen as a spineless politician that is embracing the very people who were responsible for the assassination of his father back years ago. This behavior and servant-like attitude towards Syria and Iran is concerning in light of Bible prophecy. The Bible indicates that in the end times Israel will face a conflict with here immediate enemies on her borders in what is foretold in Psalm 83. This of course could eventually give rise to the prophecies foretold in Ezekiel 38-39. In fact, another article today shines more light on the current friendliness and coziness between Israel's northern neighbors. This news report comes from the
Israel National News that reports that the leaders of Lebanon, Iran, and Turkey may meet in Beirut. This meeting if held, would be a real eye-opener for students of Bible prophecy as I believe it would indicate that we are getting closer and closer to the Psalm 83 scenario and eventually Ezekiel 38-39 as the invaders in the Ezekiel scenario come from the north. The INN article reports:
Diplomats in Beirut said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may extend his visit to Lebanon by another day because Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is due to arrive in the country. They said a three-way meeting between Ahmadinejad, Erdogan and Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri is possible.
When looking at the overall big picture it sure appears that the enemies of Israel are up to something, but what exactly we don't know. We do have clues from the Bible in that eventually a coalition of Israel's enemies will try to erase Israel from the map so that their name is remembered no more. This evil plot will not succeed according to the Bible. And when these enemies are defeated, it could very well lead to the Ezekiel 38-39 scenario. While the ultimate details in prophecy are not given to us, we will have to wait and see exactly how the situation plays out but it could be that we do not have much longer to wait. How the rest of Ahmadinejad's trip plays out remains to be seen. There have even been polls asking on the Israeli news sites what the IDF should do if Ahmadinejad shows up at the border. The overwhelming voter response was to shoot him. Boy, if that doesn't make you sit up and get wide-eyed I don't know what will. We should know more about the visit tomorrow. Stay tuned!
Please also pray for Israel during this time, this is a very intense time for Israel as reports have it that after Ahmadinejad leaves that the Hezbollah terrorist group could be up to something big. Let us pray for Israel and as always pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
