The Rapture Report - PA to US: Veto at UN would 'destroy' two-state solution

PA to US: Veto at UN would 'destroy' two-state solution
Written: 09-17-2011
Rapture Forum Staff: Chris

In another sign of the importance of the coming Palestinian statehood bid at the U.N. this next week, the Palestinian Authority is trying to pressure the U.S. administration of Barack Obama to not "veto" the bid. The U.S. has threatened to veto the statehood bid in the recent past and has made it clear that direct negotiations are the only way to move the Middle East peace process forward. Despite this, the Palestinian Authority seems bent on taking the issue to the U.N. Security Council for a showdown on the issue. The Jerusalem Post website reports:

The Palestinian Authority on Saturday warned the US against using the veto to thwart its plan to seek membership for a Palestinian state in the UN next week. The PA said that a US veto would "destroy" the two-state solution. The warning came hours after PA President Mahmoud Abbas announced in a speech in Ramallah that he would ask the UN Security Council to accept membership of a Palestinian state. Chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat warned that the US Administration's use of a veto to foil the PA move would destroy the two-state solution. "Anyone who supports the two-state solution should back the Palestinian effort [at the UN]," he said.

The Palestinian Authority even went as far as declaring that they would "dismantle" the organization if the U.S. vetoed their statehood bid. This is nothing but the same tactics the Palestinians have used in the past when they didn't get their way. Just the other day the Palestinian Authority declared that they would continue to keep knocking on the door of the U.N.S.C. if the U.S. vetoed their bid. One day they are going to dismantle the group, the next day they will keep at it until they get what they want. The truth is that the Palestinian Authority is never going to give up on their goal and quest to destroy the Jewish state of Israel.

The Jerusalem Post article went on to further report:

"We seek to gain membership in the UN on the basis of the 1967 borders so that we could afterward return to the negotiations on a clear and internationally recognized reference." Abbas said that the statehood bid was only part of the Palestinian strategy that is designed to "put the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital back on the geography map." He also cautioned Palestinians against resorting to violence, stressing that support for the statehood bid should be "peaceful." Otherwise, he said, this could "harm us and sabotage our efforts."

It appears that what the Palestinians can't accomplish at the negotiating table they are going to try to go around through the U.N. Security Council to get their way. Then go back to direct negotiations where they want the negotiations to start. This is why the statehood bid is so important for the Palestinians because they are trying to use it for leverage against the Israelis and rip Jerusalem out of their hands. The Israelis stand to lose a lot if the are "stabbed" in the back by Imam Obama who has shown in the past that he is no friend of Israel. I surely hope that U.S. President Obama will keep his word by vetoing the Palestinian statehood bid, but the fact is that I will only believe it when I see it. Even Saudi Arabia has warned the U.S. that their standing in the Middle East will be greatly harmed if they veto the Palestinian statehood bid. But the true fact is that American influence in the region is going down anyway as a result of the "Arab Spring" that has allowed fanatical and religious Islamic terrorist groups to gain a foothold in countries where they were not previously allowed to run wild. all of that has changed now.

Not only is the Palestinian Authority trying to use the U.N. to force borders on Israel and influence the status of Jerusalem, but the Palestinians have also not backed off their demand of the "right of return" of millions of so called "refugees" back into what is left of Israel. This is simply a devilish tactic to split Israel in half and destroy what remains through a systematic migration of millions of people into Israel who have no business being there in the first place. The truth of the matter is that the real Palestine is in Jordan and the ideal solution would be for Jordan to absorb their own citizens rather than trying to essentially destroy the Jewish state by over-running it with millions of so called "refugees". The aim of the Islamists is nothing but the total destruction of the modern state of Israel.

For their part, Israel has made comments regarding the possibility that they could "annex" the West Bank areas of Judea and Samaria thereby putting them under Jewish control and authority. To take the matter even further, I think Israel should strip the Islamics of any ability to vote in Israel as the Palestinians have made it perfectly clear that they will not allow Jews in a Palestinian state if they are able to achieve such a thing. The Israel Today magazine reports:

The Palestinine Liberation Organization (PLO) ambassador to the US, Maen Areikat, told reporters in Washington on Tuesday that the Palestinian state his regime is trying to gain recognition for at the UN next week should be free of Jews. "I think it would be in the best interest of the two people to be separated," said Areikat. Of course, any talk by Israeli politicians of removing Arabs from the Jewish state is immediately branded as racism and aggressively dismissed by the international community. Israeli and Jewish leaders were incensed by the Palestinian official's remarks.

As we watch this entire situation unfold it is clear that there is a lot at stake this week in at the U.N. when the U.S. is pushed into a corner and Obama must make one of the biggest decisions in his administration's history. The balance of the Middle East hangs in Obama keeping his word to Israel on vetoing the Palestinian initiatives for statehood. These are definitely exciting times to be alive, we are inching closer and closer to the prophecies of the Bible taking shape and moving into place. Jerusalem is definitely the "burdensome stone" that the Bible says it will be in these last days. Like watchmen on the wall, keep your eyes fixed this week on New York and the U.N. You can definitely be sure that the God of Israel is watching closely as well. No matter what the Palestinians try to do through the international community, Bible prophecy tells us that they will not be successful in their evil attempts to destroy Israel. This should be an interesting week. Stay tuned!

God bless.
