Abbas to Arabs: We'd Support a War Against Israel
Rapture Forum Staff: Chris
One of the top headlines today that caught my attention was one that proclaimed that Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas has told his fellow Arabs that they would support a war with Israel now. Is this the same man that the world insists that the Israelis are supposed to be dealing with for a "fair and just" peace agreement in the Middle East?? I truly find it amazing that the world community is so anti-semitic that they can make such demands and actually mean them. Hitler would be proud of these people. Oy vey!! The article in question comes from an article by the Israel National News that states:
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told Arab leaders that the PA is ready to wage war on Israel if the rest of the Arab world does, according to the PA daily Al-Hayat al-Jadida as translated by Palestinian Media Watch.
“If you want war, and if all of you will fight Israel, we are in favor. But the Palestinians will not fight alone because they don't have the ability to do it,” Abbas quoted himself as having said at the March Arab League Summit in Libya.
Arab cities in Judea and Samaria were “completely destroyed” in the Israeli counterterrorism operations that took place during the Oslo War (Second Intifada), Abbas told Arab League members. “We will not agree that it will be destroyed again,” he said.
What's ironic is that Abbas is on one hand beating the drum of war, yet on another hand says the Palestinians won't fight Israel alone. The problem is they want "help" from their fellow Arabs. Well, for students of Bible prophecy we know that eventually the Arab brotherhood will respond and get together in order to go to war with Israel. How do we know this? Very easily, it is foretold in Psalm 83. And from the reports on the ground, war is being anticipated by nearly everyone in the region. With the Middle East peace process basically stalemated and hopelessly lost, the Palestinians and their fellow Islamists are beginning to stir for a fight. With the Gaza flotilla crisis fresh in everyone's memory, it doesn't take much imagination to see that the soil is ripe for the seeds of war to grow.
To give a better view of Abbas and his two-faced approach to Israel, the INN article highlighted some of the "double-speak" in which Abbas tells Israel one thing, yet tells his Islamic audience something else. The INN article reports:
Abbas, who is serving his fifth term as head of the PA after unilaterally extending his term in office, has made several statements in recent years that have raised concerns as to his true intentions. In 2008, as Israel and the PA engaged in peace talks, Abbas told a Jordanian paper that he opposed terrorism “at present” but that “things may change.”
In March 2010, the PA held a ceremony naming a main square in Ramallah for a terrorist who led a cell that murdered 37 Israelis. In June, a broadcast on official PA television referred to Jews as “our enemies” and to the entire state of Israel as “Palestine.” Earlier this week, Abbas eulogized terrorist Abu Daoud, the mastermind of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, calling him “one of the leading figures in Fatah.”
Israel has officially referred to Abbas a "moderate" leader, as opposed to the leadership of Hamas, whose charter calls clearly for destroying Israel.
To claim that Abbas is a moderate is simply a way of trying to appease the international community in order to hold talks with the Palestinians, but as we can see Abbas is anything but moderate. Despite the ongoing word games with Abbas, more and more reports are surfacing in the news these days that indicate that Syria is playing a major role in helping arm the Hezbollah terrorist organization. One of the latest articles I read reported that the Iranians have set up a missile manufacturing plant in Syria whereby the products produced (missiles) are split evenly with Hezbollah and Syria. These missiles that are being mass produced have a capability to strike all of Israel. So we can easily see that there is an active process in place that is slowly but surely leading the region to war. And as usual the Iranians are in the mix so to speak.
The Iranians for their part would like nothing more than to see a war break out as they are getting closer and closer to achieving a nuclear weapon. I would tend to believe that as Iran gets closer and closer to the point of no return on their nuclear weapons program, we can expect to see more hostilities and even an outbreak of war between Israel and the Iranian proxy terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah. The most recent report I have seen lately concerning the Iranian nuclear facilities going "online" has now been pushed back to September. Whether this is a true estimation of the intentions of Iran and Russia remain to be seen, but time is clearly running out for Israel to strike Iran. Iran could at anytime say "Gotcha!!" and declare they are a nuclear weapons state.
Despite the article mentioning Abbas, another article came out that supposedly has U.S. Senator John McCain claiming that Israel has no plans to strike Iran right now. The Haaretz news website is reporting:
U.S. Senator John McCain said Wednesday that he does not believe Israel is currently considering military action against Iran over its contentious nuclear program, The Washington Post reported. "I don't believe we are at the point of making that kind of decision, nor is the Israeli government, given the state that Iran is in now as far as the development of their nuclear weapons is concerned," McCain told reporters after talks with Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi and Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
McCain was visiting Jerusalem this week, along with fellow Republican senator, Lindsey O. Graham, and Independent Senator Joseph Lieberman. McCain was responding to a question posed to the senators on whether they would support an Israeli strike against Iran. McCain said he could not yet give an opinion on the matter as it "would be dictated by so many different circumstances", according to The Washington Post.
Lieberman did not respond directly to the question, according to The Post, but said: "We will use every means that we have to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power through diplomatic and economic sanctions if we possibly can, through military action if we must."
These comments come on the heels of a report earlier in the week where world leaders voiced their opinion that Israel may decide to preemptively attack Iran over their nuclear program. I for one am wondering if McCain has made these comments as part of a calculated effort to keep the Iranians guessing one way or the other as it regards a possible Israeli strike. McCain would probably be in the know should the U.S. be involved in helping Israel or at the very least of issuing a "green light" for an Israeli strike. The Israeli government is also not saying much on the issue and that is probably because the element of "surprise" will be very important in any run up to a military strike. While the current official line is that there is no plans for a strike, we do know that Iran is very close to going "online" with their nuclear facilities. Israel has in the past ALWAYS struck before allowing a nuclear program to go online. To me, the next couple of months will be very interesting to say the least and which is why we should keep a constant focus on this region of the world.
Finally, for a "offbeat" article that made me chuckle. U.S. President Obama seems to think that the Jewish people, especially Israelis, are "anxious" about him because his middle name is "Hussein". This has got to be nomination for the funniest quote of the year. The Haaretz news website reports:
During the interview Wednesday, when confronted with the anxiety that some Israelis feel toward him, Obama said that "some of it may just be the fact that my middle name is Hussein, and that creates suspicion."
"Ironically, I've got a Chief of Staff named Rahm Israel Emmanuel. My top political advisor is somebody who is a descendent of Holocaust survivors. My closeness to the Jewish American community was probably what propelled me to the U.S. Senate," Obama said.
"I think that sometimes, particularly in the Middle East, there's the feeling of the friend of my enemy must be my enemy, and the truth of the matter is that my outreach to the Muslim community is designed precisely to reduce the antagonism and the dangers posed by a hostile Muslim world to Israel and to the West," Obama went on to say.
Obama reports that he thinks the recent suspicion of him comes from his "middle name" rather than from the mistreatment he has dished out to Israeli PM Netanyahu over the year and half since he took office. Obama treats Netanyahu as if he were the CEO of BP oil on four of the five visits Netanyahu has made with Obama. This visit earlier this week was supposedly a "successful" visit as Hussein Obama was clearly on the defense for not wanting to offend the Jewish people both in the U.S. and in Israel. Recent polls have shown that the Jewish voters have taken a remarkedly opposite view of Obama since the presidential election in 2008. Recent polls show that Obama has lost the majority of Jewish voters and that Jewish Democratic party donations are barely trickling in these days. Jewish voters are historically very generous Democratic party donors. These facts show that Obama has an awful lot of trouble ahead here come November where it is expected he could lose control of both the House and Senate if the polls figures are correct. To me, this is why Obama is currently putting on a "pretty face" for Netanyahu and his entourage when they visited earlier in the week. Obama is simply a politician who will say and do anything to maintain power. For that reason, we need to rightfully view his actions with suspicion. The sad part is that Obama's anti-semitism doesn't allow him to see the issue correctly.
President Obama claims that he wants to "reach out" to the Islamic world to correct the "arrogance" and "wrongdoings" of the past by America. But the truth is that there has been no arrogance or wrongdoings on the part of America. America has done nothing other than defend itself, as well as the rest of the world, by waging war against terrorism. And rightfully so. Obama and his liberal leftist cohorts see the U.S. as a bully on the world stage and are trying hard to undermine the America's political clout on the world stage by repeating "apologizing" for supporting Israel, which the Islamic world blames for every problem under the sun. If it rains in the Islamic world, it's Israel's fault. If an earthquake hits, it's Israel's fault. If it's a cloudy day, it's Israel's fault. The insanity continues without end from the Islamic world. So in order to correct these things, U.S. President Obama tries to "punish" Israel and make her make insane concessions in order to heal the wounded pride of the Islamic world who knows they can't do anything about Israel on their own. The Islamic world is trying hard to get Obama to "correct" past injustices by being "unjust" with his dealings with Israel. For that reason, I would like to call on President Obama to read Genesis 12:3 which says that God will bless those who bless Israel, and he will curse those who curse Israel. Obama has a choice to make, will he continue to come out of the closet and show his true Islamic leanings or will he continue to try to hide in the closet while pretending to be a friend of Israel simply so he can stay in power? My guess based on his current "Israel friendly" policy is that he will stay in the closet for now until November and then it will be open hunting season again for the liberals as they take aim on Israel as usual.
Despite the political maneuverings and deception in the world, the truth of the matter is that none of this surprises God. He sees everything that happens and he knows what the world leaders will do. He is always way ahead of them. For this we should rest assured that everything will work out according to his perfect plan for the redemption of mankind and for Israel. Let us continue to pray for Israel and pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Time is running out and all the world has become an end times stage. Let us prepare for our blessed hope and to watch from the "balcony seats" as the Bible tells us that when these things start to happen, to look up, for our redemption is drawing nigh.
