Next Hizbullah War May Be Over Israel’s Gas and Oil Fields
Rapture Forum Staff: Chris
In today's news came an interesting report that stated that the next Israeli war with Hezbollah could be one over the recently discovered gas and oil fields off the coast of Israel. Israel has made these discoveries and claimed the fields for themselves. This is something that would be a great boost to the Jewish state and help them become a major player in the world energy sector. To demonstrate the current state of these oil fields the Israel Nation News is reporting:
Hizbullah has laid claim to a huge oil and gas field that Israel discovered off its northeastern Mediterranean Coast -- and which Lebanon already has claimed as well. The terrorist organization warned that it will not allow Israel to take possession of the offshore fields, which could make the Jewish State energy self-sufficient for the first time in history. The As-Safir Lebanese newspaper told its readers that the gas field “was located between Israeli and Cypriot territorial waters and stretches toward the Lebanese coast.”Lebanese newspapers also reported that previous Israeli gas finds “were either taking place in areas stretching to Lebanese territorial waters or other spots far away from the Israeli coast.”
The INN article quoted Hezbollah officials as saying that they would not allow Israel to "loot" their natural resources. These newly discovered gas and oil fields could be a major source of funding for whoever is able to develop the fields. Hezbollah and Lebanon would like nothing more than a significant funding source for their efforts to destroy Israel. On the other hand it is clear that Israel is planning to develop these fields and it could be that such a move will trigger a war in the future. There is a lot at stake in the development of these gas and oil fields. The INN news article also state:
Hizbullah’s claims were stated by the party’s executive council chief Hashem Safieddine, who was quoted by the Tehran Times as saying it would not allow Israel to “loot” Lebanese gas resources. Lebanese parliamentary speaker Nabih Berri previously said, “Israel is racing to make the case a fait accompli and was quick to present itself as an oil emirate, ignoring the fact that, according to the maps, the deposit extends into Lebanese waters. Exploring our options in this field is our best bet to pay off Lebanon's debts.”
However, the Israeli government denied that the gas and oil fields were in the Lebanese areas and even pointed out that the UN regulations state that Israel can develop the newly discovered energy fields. The INN article went on even further to state:
The Israeli government immediately responded to the Lebanese claims, saying they are totally unfounded and that all of the gas and oil fields are off the coast of Israel and not Lebanon. Dr. Yaakov Mimran, director of energy exploration for the National Infrastructures Ministry, called the claims "nonsense.” He added, "These noises occur when they smell gas. Until then they sit quietly and let the other side spend the money.” Marine law expert Amir Cohen-Dor told the Globes business news service that the Dalit and Tamar gas fields are within Israel's contiguous economic zone, and that United Nations regulations clearly state that Israel can develop them.
There was a recent article out a few weeks ago that reported that new studies have shown that the fields hold more gas and oil than previously thought. These findings will be a bonanza for Israel and will help them to become an energy self-sufficient country for the first time in their history. For students of Bible prophecy these discoveries could further speed up the end times prophecies. In Ezekiel 38-39 the prophet records that the Gog and Magog allies are asked if they have come to invade Israel to take a "spoil". A spoil could easily include over-running Israel and seizing their newly discovered energy riches. This coupled with the minerals that are in the Dead Sea and suddenly you have a very plausible scenario where the invaders can literally come for an economic spoil or looting.
To further bolster this scenario it is likely we all can remember that over the last few years Russia has been giving the Europeans a really hard time with providing a stable supply of gas for their cold winter months. The Russians did this to gain political and military ground at the expense of the Europeans. The discovery of gas in Israel could provide the Europeans with a reliable means and supply of gas, thereby allowing them to potentially bypass the Russians who have shown themselves to be unreliable. A development of this magnitude would surely not go over well in Moscow as Russia uses the money generated from gas and oil sales to prop up the Russian economy. I do not think it is a far fetched idea that these gas and oil fields could be part of the "spoil" spoken about in Ezekiel 38-39. This is to me certainly possible.
As a result, students of Bible prophecy need to keep an eye out in the news for any significant developments related to the new developing Israeli energy sector. This could be a key in the coming Gog and Magog conflict. I also believe that the discovery of the gas and oil fields is not a coincidence either. To me, this is another example of how God has accurately foretold the future and given us clues to look for in the end times. With the prophetic puzzle pieces moving around the end times game board, we surely can see that time is running out and that the foretold prophetic events are just over the horizon.
