Saudis want ultimatum on Israel, Iran advances nuclear program
Rapture Forum Staff: Chris
Welcome to this edition of the Rapture Report. Tension continues to mount in the Middle East region as the Saudis have pressured US President Obama to try to "force" a settlement of the Middle East crisis. The Saudis want the US President Obama to give the Israelis an "ultimatum" to settle the decades long conflict and the acceptance of a 2-state solution. The Israelis for their part are not warming to the idea of a 2-state solution because they do not have a genuine peace partner who will recognize their right to exist and live in genuine peace. The Haaretz news agency is reporting that:
King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has urged U.S. President Barack Obama to impose a solution on the festering Arab-Israeli conflict if necessary, a Saudi newspaper said on Sunday. Saudi Arabia and other Arab states want Obama to get tough with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over his refusal to endorse Palestinian statehood and for defying U.S. calls to halt the expansion of settlements.
It was further revealed that:
King Abdullah told Obama during his visit to Riyadh last week that Arab patience was wearing thin and that a solution of the Arab-Israeli conflict would be the "magic key" to all issues in the region, al-Hayat said, quoting what it called informed sources. "We want from you a serious participation to solve the Palestinian issue and impose the solution if necessary," the Saudi monarch told Obama, according to the paper, which is owned by a nephew of the monarch. It did not elaborate.
The Bible tells us that in the last days that Jerusalem will become a "burdensome stone" to all the nations. The world believes that if Israel would just give up land and flood the country with islamic refugees that everything would be fine and dandy. This is absolutely a crazy idea and it will never amount to peace because the islamists do not seek genuine peace. As we have mentioned many times before the islamists are merely seeking to gain as much as they can through negotiations before trying one final push to destroy Israel once and for all. Pslam 83 comes to mind as the psalmist records that the enemies of Israel seek to destroy her so that "her name is remembered no more".
With US President Obama bent on making Israel give up more land and stop building settlements in the eastern Jerusalem areas, I believe this will place the US and Israel on a collision course in the near future. There has even been talk that the Palestinians are trying to get Obama to pressure Israel so much that their current government led by right-wing Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu will collapse.
A recent article in the Haaretz news agency reports that an Iranian cleric has called for the US to stop all support to Israel in order to improve ties. The article went on to report:
The United States must change its policies toward Israel to improve ties with Iran, a senior Iranian ayatollah said Friday. "Whatever the U.S. president says about forgetting the past and starting a new phase of relations with Iran the first condition should be a policy change toward Israel," Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said at Friday prayers in Tehran. The ayatollah was referring to U.S. President Barack Obama's speech to the Muslim world Thursday in Cairo, in which he said instead of remaining trapped in the past, the United States was prepared to move forward in its relations with the Islamic republic.
It is apparent that the current US government is having to make a decision on whether to side with the Israelis or side with the islamic world. Many of us know that Obama's past is that he grew up with an islamic influence. Obama's first call to a foreign leader was to PA President Abbas. Obama's first official interview was with islamic newspaper AlArabia. And just the other day Obama declared that the US could be seen as a moslem country. This remark by Obama is just beyond words and shows where Obama's true allegiance is, which is with the islamic world. And I believe that in turn will eventually cause the US to pull back from supporting Israel and thereby putting us on direct path against the Will of God.
The coming weeks will be very important in seeing which direction the Middle East crisis goes. In the next week or so Isralei PM Netanyahu will outline his government's position on key areas of the Middle East conflict. These "positions" are no doubt going to be aggravating to the international community as I expect we will see Israel move away from the 2-state solution since there is not a genuine peace partner. This in turn will cause Israel to face more intense pressure from the US as well as the rest of the world community. The Haaretz news agency reported:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Sunday that he would deliver a major address on his foreign policy next week. The decision comes in the wake of U.S. pressure over the peace process with the Palestinians and Obama's address to the Muslim world last week. "Next week I will deliver a major diplomatic speech in which I will present to Israel's citizens our principles for achieving peace and security," said Netanyahu at the weekly cabinet meeting. "Ahead of the address, I will be happy to hear the opinions of my coalition partners and of other figures in the Israeli public." Obama has made repeated calls for Israel to halt West Bank settlement construction, and last week declared he would personally pursue a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a concept Netanyahu has so far refrained from publicly supporting.
Bible prophecy students should stay tuned in to the next few weeks as we could see a major shift in Isralei policy concerning the Middle East peace process that could lead to more tension and conflict in the region. It is quite possible that the shift in Israeli positions could lead to a Pslam 83 and Isaiah 17 fulfillment if things were to break out into full conflict as a result of the shift of Israeli political positions.
In other news, it is being reported that Iran continues to go full-steam ahead with the illegal nuclear activities. The Iran Focus website is reporting that a New York Times article states:
A week before Iran’s presidential election, atomic inspectors reported Friday that the country has sped up its production of nuclear fuel and increased its number of installed centrifuges to 7,200 - more than enough, weapon experts said, to make fuel for up to two nuclear weapons a year, if the country decided to use its facilities for that purpose.
In its report, the International Atomic Energy Agency said that it had found no evidence that any of the fuel in Iran’s possession had been enriched to the purity needed to make a bomb, a step that would take months. But it said that the country had blocked its inspectors for more than a year now from visiting a heavy-water reactor capable of being modified to produce plutonium that could be used in weapons. It also said that Tehran had continued to refuse to answer the agency’s questions about reports of Iranian studies obtained by Western intelligence agencies that suggest that its scientists had performed research on the design of a nuclear warhead.
It appears that Iran continues to stall for time while carrying out their illegal nuclear activities. The Iranians program is showing signs of increased production and capabilities. There were talks a few days ago that the Israelis would give Obama and the Iranians just a couple of months to find a breakthrough to the current Iranian nuclear crisis. After a few months it is believed that all parties would know if the Iranians were serious about possibly suspending their program according to international demands.
US President Obama was quoted as saying that the current Iranian nuclear crisis has reached a so called "decisive" point. The Iran Focus website reports:
US President Barack Obama said on Thursday that the nuclear showdown with Iran had reached a decisive point but that Tehran had the right to peaceful nuclear power if it abided by international treaties. Obama, who broke with former US policy of isolating Tehran, said it would be hard to "overcome decades of mistrust" but he had made clear to Iran's leaders and people that the United States was prepared to move forward in relations with Iran. "But it is clear to all concerned that when it comes to nuclear weapons we have reached a decisive point. "This is not simply about America's interests. It is about preventing a nuclear arms race in the Middle East that could lead this region and the world down a hugely dangerous path."
The next few months will prove crucial for the Middle East peace process as well as the world. The intense pressure being applied to Israel will only get worse while at the same time the window of opportunity to stopping Iran from reaching the nuclear point of no return is slowly but surely closing. Students of Bible prophecy should stay tuned in to the news for more developments. While it is only June, the heat is definitely being turned up. This summer could be a hot one indeed, and in more ways than one.
Regardless of the intense pressure being applied to Israel and the illegal nuclear activities of Iran, we should be comforted by the words of the Bible that promise us that God is in full control. While things seem to be taking place at a break neck prophetic speed, God has promised that once Israel returned to the land a second time, that he would never allow them to be uprooted again.
