Israel Intercepts another Gaza Bound Ship
Rapture Forum Staff: Chris
Early this morning the Israeli Navy intercepted another ship trying to break the current naval blockade of Gaza. This time the ship was the Irish based "Rachel Corrie" that was sailing in direct defiance of the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza. Israel maintains a naval blockade of the Gaza Stip in order to prevent the passing of military and arms to the ruling Hamas terrorist organization. Hamas has in the past received shipments of arms, missiles, etc. from such countries as Iran in order to continue their armed struggle against Israel. Israel allows for humanitarian movement of goods into the Gaza enclave, but simply insists on the right to inspect cargo in order to make sure that nothing is passed illegally to the Gaza terrorists. Despite this policy several liberal leftist and anti-semitic groups in the world have insisted that Israel is wrong to want to inspect cargo before being turned over to the ruling Hamas terrorist group. Hamas is one of the world's most notorious terrorist groups and is responsible for killing people all over the world.
In today's news we have reports that around 5:50am Israel time that the Israeli Navy intercepted the "Rachel Corrie" merchant ship and took over the ship in a matter of moments. Unlike this weeks earlier violent and deadly take over of the "Mavi Marmara" that was part of a six ship flotilla that was launched from Turkey. The incident earlier in the was in stark contrast to today's peaceful take over of the "Rachel Corrie" ship. The "Mavi Marmara" was apparently populated with terrorists who were on martyrs missions and who carried weapons suck as steel poles, knives, and over homemade weapons. Recent video released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) show that the commandos who were lowered down onto the ship were met with brutal resistance that resulted in the severe injuries of several of Israel's soldiers. The "Rachel Corrie" ship thankfully had none of the drama and violence that was typical of the "Mari Marmara". According to the Jerusalem Post it is reported:
At about 5:50 am on Saturday, the first reports came in over Twitter that the 'Rachel Corrie' had been boarded close to Gaza. Earlier the activists reported that their radar had been jammed, however their Twitter accounts continued to operate. The activists reported that three boats were following them for about twenty minutes and then that they had been boarded. The passengers are said to be under arrest.
The article further went on to state:
Before the ship made its offer, Irish Foreign Minister, Dr. Michael Martin reached an agreement with Israel, whereby the Rachel Corrie would proceed to Ashdod where its contents would be checked, unloaded and then shipped to Gaza under observation of representatives of the activists, the UN and the Irish government. The activists rejected this offer, insisting on breaking the Israeli blockade. They did however give assurances that they would not resist the IDF, should it decide to board the ship. The White House later expressed support for the agreement and called on the ship to dock at Ashdod.
In order confirm and emphasize my previous comment concerning the willingness of the Israelis to offload the cargo for inspection and to pass it on to Gaza, the Jerusalem Post article noted that the Israeli government said that they had no desire for conflict and that they would work to ensure the aid went to the Gaza strip under the supervision of the "aid" groups. This was rejected and the aid groups insisted to proceed to the terrorist stronghold without prior inspection. The Jerusalem Post notes:
On Monday morning, nine activists were killed during an IDF sea raid of the Free Gaza Movement's flotilla of six ships which had wanted to reach the Gaza shore. The cabinet agreed that Israel must maintain the naval blockade of Gaza so that it could prevent Iran and terrorists groups such as Hizbullah from sending weapons to Hamas. As the navy prepared to intercept the ship, Netanyahu instructed it not to harm the activists. The Foreign Ministry said it hoped the activists on board would reconsider their position.
"We have no desire for a confrontation," said Spokesman Gal. "We have no desire to board the ship. If the ship decides to sail the port of Ashdod, then we will ensure its safe arrival and will not board it," he said. "Israel is prepared to receive the ship and to offload its contents. After an inspection to ensure that no weapons and war materials are on board, we are prepared to deliver all of the goods to Gaza," Gal said. "Representative of the people on board and relevant NGOs are welcome to accompany the goods to the crossings," he said.
As we can see from the above comments it is quite clear that Israel is genuine and sincere in wanting to inspect the goods, ensure that there are no illegal substances, and are more than willing to help ensure the aid makes its way to Gaza as intended. However, I find it very interesting that the Turkish aid group as well as the aid group that was involved in the confrontation earlier this week do not have the willingness to work with the Israelis to make sure that their security interests are ensured. It is quite illogical to expect that cargo should be allowed to enter a known terrorist without haven been inspected. This would be akin to a small terrorist enclave operating on the corner of the U.S. and Mexico border and an enclave in which rockets are fired into the U.S. on a daily basis. There is no doubt in my mind that the U.S. would simply not allow this to happen on our soil. The American people and congress would demand that this enclave be wiped out and returned to civilized functionality. However, when it applies to Israel it appears the world throws out common sense and logic in order to appease Islamic fanatics. This appeasement is similar to the appeasement that Neville Chamberlain had with Hitler and we all know how that turned out. In fact, this appeasement led to a great tragedy in the result of WW2. My fear, in light of Bible prophecy, is that this appeasement today of the Islamic terrorists will lead us once again down the wide road of destruction per the prophecies of Psalm 83, Isaiah 17, and eventually Ezekiel 38-39. We can see that Turkey's belligerent behavior and attitudes toward Israel have become very counter-productive to peace efforts in the region. Turkey has in essence become the mouthpiece of the anti-semitic Middle East as well as the international community. It is no wonder that Turkey plays a large role in the coming Ezekiel 38-39 war which does not bode well for them.
While we are on the discussion of Turkey it has been simply amazing to watch the recent transformation of Turkey over the past year or so. After being humiliated by the European Union and being rejected for a prime spot in the Eurozone, Turkey has made a very quick and not so surprising shift in their focus to the East. After having looked West for their future and hoping to join the European Union, the Turks have shifted East these days towards the ranks of the fellow Islamic brothers and sisters. It is also noteworthy that the Turkish Army which has traditionally been the seat of true power in Turkey since it's modern day founding has become increasing under the control of the Islamic government of Turkish PM Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish President Abdullah Gul. This Islamic AKP has been growing in influence and has in fact been behind the arrests of many high ranking Turkish military officers. The goal is to transfer power from the military to the political parties in order to consolidate the country and move into a strict Sharia law state similar to Iran. This transformation I believe will lead the Turks towards their date with destiny with the God of Israel per the Ezekiel 38-39 war.
To show how far Turkish PM Tayyip Erdogan is willing to go to "stir the pot" in the region, the Haaretz news agency is reporting that Erdogan has suggested that he may be a participant in one of the coming Gaza flotillas in the future. the Haaretx news reports:
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is weighing the possibility of traveling to the Gaza Strip in order to "break the Israeli blockade," the Lebanese newspaper al-Mustaqbal reported on Saturday, according to Army Radio. Erdogan reportedly raised the idea in conversations with close associates and even informed the United States of his intention to ask the Turkish Navy to accompany another aid flotilla to Gaza. The Americans asked Erdogan to delay his plans, in light of tensions on the region, the Lebanese report said.
According to the report, Erdogan is under intense political pressure to cancel security agreements with Israel. The Turkish military establishment, however, strongly opposes the idea of cutting security ties with Israel.
Finally, it appears that the next wave of "Free Gaza" ships is just around the corner. But this time the ships are having technical problems as well as being refused to allow Cyprus to try to "break" the Gaza blockade. The Jerusalem Post reports:
Another aid ship seeking to break the Gaza blockade has been held up in Cyprus, according to a report by a senior naval officer on Saturday. The ship in question, Challenger 2, has been stuck in port in Cyprus due to both experiencing technical difficulties and the refusal of Cypriot authorities to allow activists to use Cyprus as a launch point.
It appears that what is right in the world today is wrong, and what is wrong is right. We are seeing a strong increase in anti-semitism aimed towards Israel from the international community. Alot of this hatred and frustration towards Israel is led by the belief that if Israel would just give up more land that the Islamic people would make a "peace" with Israel and that all of the world's problems would simply go away. This sort of mindless liberal leftist thinking simply does not have one iota of legitimacy or rationality to it. In fact, we have discussed many times how Israel gave up land in Gaza and was rewarded with more terrorism and rocket attacks into the Israel homeland. Appeasement of the Islamic hordes will simply not result in peace, their religion forbids this and until the international community realizes that the true enemy is Islam we will continue to face a downward spiral from conflict resolution to more conflict. It is inevitable. As Bible prophecy students know, the Bible foretells more violence and bloodshed in the future in the form of Psalm 83, Isaiah 17, and eventually Ezekiel 38-39. This is unfortunately the sad reality of the situation and of the the Middle East region. In fact, there is an article out today that shows that the rabbis in Israel are starting to believe that the Gaza flotilla situation coupled with the increased belligerent stance of Turkey is in fact evidence that the Ezekiel 38-39 prophecy is coming into focus. The Israel National News is reporting:
The Rabbinical Council of Judea and Samaria issued a statement Thursday in which it said that the results of the incident in which Israel intercepted a flotilla trying to break the naval blockade of Gaza seem like the Biblical description of "the beginning of the Gog and Magog process where the world is against us, but which ends with the third and final redemption."
The statement explained that while secular Zionism always wants Israel to be beloved by other nations, “the legitimacy of our people is not derived from the nations of the world and their poisonous traditions, rather from the Torah of Israel which teaches us that [Israel] 'is a people that shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations'" (Numbers 23:9). They emphasized that there is no reason to be alarmed by the world's condemnation as it is a predicted result of fear of Israel's success.
The article went on to further state:
'Gog and Magog' is a reference is to chapters 38 and 39 in the book of Ezekiel, a part of which is read on the intermediate Sabbath of Sukkot (Tabernacles). These chapters describe a vision of a war where the world is united against Israel that will precede the final redemption of Israel and the world. The prophecy's symbolism involves a prince called Gog of Magog, leader of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, who leads a coalition that includes Persia (Iran), Cush, Phut, Gomer, and Beit Togarmah against Israel. There are various opinions regarding the modern identity of these nations.
The article even provide a smapling of scriptures from Ezekiel 38-39 for added emphasis:
As a sampling of passages from Ezekiel 39 shows, the prophesy predicts that the coalition will be defeated by Israel, at a time following Israel's gathering from its exile:
And thou, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say: Thus saith the Lord G-d: Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; and I will turn thee about and lead thee on, and will cause thee to come up from the uttermost parts of the north; and I will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel; and I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the peoples that are with thee; I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort and to the beasts of the field, to be devoured.
Therefore thus saith the Lord G-d: Now will I bring back the captivity of Jacob, and have compassion upon the whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name. And they shall bear their shame, and all their breach of faith which they have committed against Me, when they shall dwell safely in their land, and none shall make them afraid; when I have brought them back from the peoples, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations.
And they shall know that I am the Lord their G-d, in that I caused them to go into captivity among the nations, and have gathered them unto their own land; and I will leave none of them any more there; neither will I hide My face any more from them; for I have poured out My spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord G-d.'
Folks, we are at an ever increasing time of potential prophetic activity. The nations are roaring against Israel. We have a U.S. President who has shown over the course of the last one and half years that he is no true friend of Israel, and much more. The timing of several end times prophecies concerning conflict between Israel and her enemies appears to be just over the horizon. As we watch the current events play out in the world, we need to remember that no matter how bad they may appear, God is surely in control. that nothing that happens on the world stage is a surprise to him. Let us continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Let us continue to pray for Israel and the Jewish people, that they come to loving and saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. For it appears that time is indeed short. And of course, let us keep looking up, for the Bible tells us that as the signs of the end times appear, that we are to lift up our head for our redemption is drawing nigh!
