Former US Ambassador John Bolton: Obama Damages Israeli Security
Rapture Forum Staff: Chris
Former United States Ambassador John Bolton has gone on the record this week as stating that current President Barack Hussein Obama is damaging Israel's security. While many students of Bible prophecy have been able to see this, the current comments from Bolton are a strong "slap in the face" to those who refuse for one reason or another to admit that the current United States administration is undermining the national security of a vital Middle East ally all in the name of appeasing Islamic terrorists. The Israel National News is currently reporting:
John Bolton, former United States ambassador to the United Nations, told Bar Shem-Ur on IDF Army Radio Tuesday morning that ”[U.S. President Barack] Obama is harming Israeli security and is playing into the hands of [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad” by agreeing to talk with Egypt about a nuclear-free Middle East.
“All of us know this suggestion [of Egypt] relates to one country - Israel,” Bolton stated. "The question right now is how much pressure he is prepared to apply to achieve his objective. If I were an Israeli, I would be afraid of the results of these contacts because of the very fact that Obama agrees to talk with Egypt” about its proposal.
Bolton went on to further describe Obama's actions towards Israel as "absurd and aggravating" Bolton clearly hit the proverbial nail on the head. This is an excellent assessment of the Obama administration's current approach to Israel. John Bolton went on to further state:
“It is clear that we are talking about an absurd and very aggravating” action by President Obama, “but this is how it has worked for years since the days of Castro, and the ‘shining” period of [Yasser] Arafat,” Bolton told Army Radio.
He also said he is not surprised that the “head of an enemy state can arrive in the United States, take the podium in the center of New York, castigate the United States and Israel and accuse them of mutual nuclear aid.
“This really is not an exceptional step for the U.N. to give the podium to the president of Iran. The best thing I can say about the visit of Ahmadinejad is that his speech was so ridiculous that he actually damages himself more than he does himself any good.”
Ambassador Bolton also had a few words for the United Nations as well. We know that the United Nations is an anti-semite organization that has used most of it's time in existence passing one resolution after another against Israel. This is simply a strong armed response to Israel by the numerous Islamic countries that are members of the United Nations. Bolton went on to further describe the United Nations as:
Calling the United Nations an organization “empty of all content” that “lost its legitimacy a long time ago,” Bolton suggested the establishment of an alternative body comprising only those countries that are democratic. “There needs to be a wide-ranging discussion on the lack of effectiveness of the United Nations in dealing with international challenges,” he explained. “In its history, it has failed time after time to deal with global threats. This happened with Communism and today it is happening with worldwide terror.” He dismissed the U.N. committee for preventing the spread of nuclear weapons as another “great name of an organization that has no teeth or significance." Bolton, who advised then-President George W. Bush to stop paying dues to the United Nations, quit his U.N. post out of frustration.
I can not but help to agree with Ambassador Bolton 100% as he basically laid out the situation and circumstances surrounding the United Nations in a nutshell. The United Nations is simply a worthless organization that really should be disbanded and replaced with one that does not allow terrorist states to preside over "human rights" committees, allow terrorist states to sit in the "Security Council" section of the United Nations that is responsible for keeping the peace in the world, etc. The very fact is that many of the terrorist states in the world use the United Nations simply as a soapbox to blast and undermine the very efforts that the United Nations is suppose to be carrying out and that is to bring the nations of the world together in peace.
This week we saw Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad once again address the United Nations in New York and go on a typical rant and drivel speech about utter nonsense. The fact that this man is even allowed to enter the country is a shame. It doesn't matter to me if the United States has obligations to allow foreign heads of state to appear at the UN or not. I seriously doubt the world community would have given Hitler a grand stage to spout his propaganda during WW2. This is exactly what the United Nations is doing is allowing the Hitler of our time to basically flaunt the world community and carry on his nonsense while the international community once again sits on it's collective hands. In this day and age, what is right is wrong and what is wrong is right. The world has simply lost it's collective senses. It is just shocking.
In other news the start of "proximity talks" between Israel and the Palestinians has officially started with the "help" of the United States. So for all intents and purposes it appears for now that the the Middle East peace process may be getting back on track. However, there are several reports that the Palestinians have been slow to agree to talks even despite an Arab League approval recently to renew the peace talks with the Israelis. The proximity talks are designed to get both sides talking again and eventually lead to the resumption of direct talks between both parties. The Jerusalem Post is reporting:
US Middle East envoy George Mitchell launched Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations Wednesday after a break of more than a year, amid much skepticism from both sides. Mitchell met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to start the indirect negotiations. He will travel between Netanyahu's office in Jerusalem and the headquarters of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah. Abbas is allocating four months for the indirect talks, insisting that the main disagreements must be discussed — control of Jerusalem, Palestinian refugees, borders and Israel's West Bank settlements.
Abbas further stated:
"Negotiations will focus on final status issues and there's no need to enter into details and small matters, because we have had enough of that in the previous negotiations," Abbas said after talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II in the Jordanian capital. "We said the indirect negotiations will last only four months," Abbas said. "After that, we will go to the Arab League to consult on whether to continue or what to do." Mitchell is due to meet Abbas later in the week.
While "proximity" talks seem like a good way to restart the dialogue between the Israelis and Palestinians, the truth is that I am not expecting the talks to lead to much progress. In fact, before the talks even started the Palestinians were slow to responding and were making further demands before even meeting with U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell. To me this does not show a positive image of successful talks in the future. The final issues of Jerusalem, the right of return, etc. are all issues that neither side is willing to budge on so it is doubtful that the talks will succeed. I think the most we can expect is that Mitchell will be burning up alot of the U.S. taxpayers money on his frequent flights to and from the Middle East as well as transportation to and from Israel and the Palestinian territories. The Palestinians are also declaring that they will only give the talks four months to achieve success before they will return to the Arab League and decide whether to move forward or not.
I think in light of Bible prophecy, we should not expect much along the lines of peace being made in our time. I believe the prophecies concerning Isaiah 17, Psalm 83, and eventually Ezekiel 38-39 give us a better picture of what to expect in the future. And that is conflict, not peace. While we all would like to see peace and goodwill in the Middle East, the truth of the matter is that this problem can't be solved until the Lord Jesus Christ returns to solve the problem himself. So while the next few months will be filled with talks and pressure being applied to Israel, the terrorists will continue to build up their arms and weapons waiting for a signal to resume armed conflict with Israel. The tension and pressure in the region is at an all time high as the Obama administration continues to apply unfair and unbalanced leverage on Israel. In the end it is likely that peace will be elusive and conflict will erupt.
Let us continue to watch the situation on the ground as these diplomatic talks talk place and watch for any signs of conflict to arise. The world believes that if we just appease the Islamists and solve the Israeli-Palestinian problem then all the other problems in the world will just go away. This is delusional thinking at best and is the result of liberal leftist nonsense that is not realistic. Let us pray for Israel and her leaders during this time as it is bound to be a terrible four months as Israel is facing not only a hostile enemy in the Palestinians, but also they are facing the most unfriendly U.S. administration in history. God help us as the days progress.
