Lines Being Drawn in the Sand
Rapture Forum Staff: Chris
Welcome to this edition of the Rapture Report. Today we will be examining the recent news headlines that point to "lines being drawn in the sand" as it concerns the Middle East "peace" process. The tension remains thick in the Middle East with the recent calls at a UN sponsored racism conference by Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for Israel to be wiped off the map. The Iranian leader continues to spew fiery rhetoric towards the Jewish state. Rising levels of anti-semitism are also constant concerns as Israel has just completed the Holocaust Remembrance Day events that are done yearly in remembrance of the 6 Million Jews who lost their lives in the Nazi Holocaust.
To start things off let's look at an article where Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad used the recent UN sponosred racism conference to take his latest verbal attack at Israel. The Jerusalem Post article reports:
On the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, nations from around the world applauded a speech in which Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for the destruction of Israel. "Governments must be encouraged and supported in their fights at eradicating this barbaric racism... Efforts must be made to put an end to Zionism," Ahmadinejad said as he addressed the UN's weeklong World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance, which opened Monday in Geneva. While he paid lip service to human rights, spoke about the oppressive nature of Western powers and called for reform of the UN Security Council, the bulk of his remarks centered on the evils of Zionism. Israel was a "most cruel and oppressive, racist regime," which was created from the "pretext of Jewish suffering" during World War II, Ahmadinejad said.
During the course of his rant against Israel, diplomats from more than 20 nations walked out of the speech and auditorium. The article goes on to report:
Upon hearing his opening barbs against Israel, the French delegation stood up and walked out. Some 40 diplomats from more than 20 countries, mostly Europeans but including Morocco, followed suit, as did several nongovernmental organizations, including B'nai B'rith International. Some hecklers did not even wait for him to open his mouth. French Jewish students wearing multi-colored clown wigs and red plastic clown noses shouted out "racist" as Ahmadinejad stood up to speak. Protesters at the event held placards reading: "This is a circus. A racist cannot fight racism," and repeatedly interrupted the speech with shouts of "Shame! shame!" and "Racist! Racist!"
After hearing about the diplomats walking out and the student protests of Ahmadinejad, it made me feel better that he was verbally opposed during the course of his evil speech. The comments from Ahmadinejad are similar to the ugly propaganda promoted by the Nazis during WW2. I have wondered many times why the UN continues to give this man a platform to spew his hate and rhetoric? It is beyond belief that he is allowed to make these speeches. It is as if the world learned nothing with Hitler and the anti-semitism during WW2.
But as we move closer to the 70th week of Daniel the rising tide of anti-semitism is only going to get worse. There are numerous articles out there were polls indicate that anti-semitism is on the rise all over the world, not just in the Middle East and Europe. I believe this rising level of anti-semitism will eventually help to lead most Jews back to Israel.
Yet another example of anti-semitism running rampant comes from the Israel National News agency. Their article reports that Hamas is also promoting anti-semitism as shown below:
A Muslim cleric called this month for the extermination of the Jews in a Friday sermon broadcast on Hamas TV, according to Middle East media watchdog, the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW). Barely three years ago, Ziad Abu Al-Haj participated in an international conference of “Imams and Rabbis for Peace”, where he and others vowed to “condemn any negative representation” of each others’ religion. Three weeks ago, however, the religious leader told his viewers on Al Aqsa (Hamas) TV that “Hatred for Muhammad and Islam is in their [Jews’] souls; they are naturally disposed to it…” According to the Hamas interpretation of Islam, Jews are inherently evil and therefore are a threat to Muslims and all humanity.
To demonstrate the tension in the Middle East right now, a Jerusalem Post news flash reports:
An Israeli attack on Iran would ignite the Middle East, Arab League chief Amr Moussa said Sunday. In an interview with Saudi paper Al-Madina, Moussa said the Israeli nuclear program was of more cause for concern than the Iranian one.
With mounting anti-semitism and the tension level increasing in the Middle East, things are bound to be explosive in the future. In fact, an Iranian General was recently quoted by Israel National News as saying:
Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan threatened that Iran would respond with force to any possible attack, according to Press TV. "Iran's military mechanism is comprised of both defensive and deterrent plans. The Islamic Republic's reaction to any transgression will be strong," Pourdastan said in an interview with Hamshahri newspaper. "Iranian armed forces are perfectly capable to trounce invaders in the event of an onslaught against the country."
In response to the recent comments by Ahmadinejad and the Iranian general, IDF leader Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi stated that Israel can strike the farthest enemy. This is believed to be a veiled threat to the Iranians. Ashkenazi was reported by YNetNews as saying:
"Even today we still face elements that seek to destroy us, those who hate us, Holocaust deniers and various leaders who openly call for our extermination," Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, said on Monday evening at the Holocaust memorial ceremony held at the Massuah Institute for the Study of the Holocaust. Just hours after the widely denounced speech given by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the UN racism conference in Geneva, Ashkenazi said the IDF was "capable of striking the farthest enemy."
The IDF leader went on to add:
Having said this, the chief of staff added that "we insist on preserving the morals unique to the Jewish people since its inception through the way we fight and conduct ourselves. Those who spoke of the 'supreme race,' and sought to rob us of our humanity, should know that the Israeli people is alive, determined to face any challenge, ready to face even the most complex threats and defeat them," said Ashkenazi.
In other signs that lines are being drawn in the sand, it is being reported by Israel National News that Washington wants 6 months to "dialogue" with Iran on it's nuclear program. The article reports:
Ash-Sharq il-Awsat, a major pan-Arabic daily newspaper, quotes a source in the U.S. as saying that “Washington wants around six months to give dialogue with Iran enough of a chance.” In an article by Tariq Alhomayed, the paper’s editor-in-chief, the source said that a few days ago, Washington completed a review of management policies on dealing with Iran. The decision was that Washington would negotiate with Tehran on issues other than nuclear weapons, “such as Iraq and Afghanistan,” while the nuclear issues will remain in the hands of EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana.
After about the last 5 years of having "dialogue" with Iran, it appears that Washington is wanting to waste another 6 months talking with the mad mullahs. Iran has stated that they are open to talks but will not halt their nuclear program while having "dialogue" talks. To me, this is simply foolish. Iran is going to continue to speed down the road to finishing their nuclear program and use all the time they can to stall serious efforts to stop their evil nuclear program. The liberal obama adminsitration feels that if they just sit down with the Iranians they can "talk" them out of it. This is simply foolish and unrealistic. As we've mentioned many times before here, I believe the only language that the Iranians understand is the language of force and that only military strikes will stop Iran at this point. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a chance that the US will help to do this. I believe that Israel is going to be left to deal with this threat. For me, the world has once again sat on their collective hands and done nothing about the coming nuclear Hitler.
In other signs that lines are being drawn in the sand, US President Obama is reported to have said that as for the Middle East peace process that the talks could not go on forever. To me, this is simply code words for "I'm going to try to force a deal" soon. And I think we all know that Israel is likely to get a "raw deal" any in Obama plan. The YNetNews reports:
"My hope would be that over the next several months you start seeing gestures of good faith on all sides… think that the parties in the region probably have a pretty good recognition of what intermediate steps could be taken as confidence-building measures," he said. "We will be doing everything we can to encourage those confidence-building measures to take place."
"We can't talk forever; at some point, steps have to be taken, so that people can see progress on the ground," the president said.
With the review of the recent news we can see that the tension continues to mount in the Middle East and that it will remain that way in the future. I do believe that eventually Israel will be forced to attack Iran as there are simply no signs anywhere that Iran is going to stop their nuclear program. In fact, they continue to put it on the fast track with the recent announcement of 7,000 centrifuges being in operation now.
Before concluding this edition of the Rapture Report I'd like to review one final news article that I found pretty interesting. It comes from RIA Novosti the Russian news agency. The title of the article is "Iran, Israel ready to go to war". That alone says alot but the interesting thing about this article was the summary at the end of the article. After talking about the usual back and forth between Iran and Israel, the article reported:
There is a definite loser in the Iranian-Israeli confrontation. It is Russia. If a war breaks out now, everyone will blame Russia. The EU and the United States will blame Russia for failure to convince Tehran to stop its uranium enrichment program, Israel will blame Russia for selling weapons to Iran, and Iran will blame it for failure to deliver the S-300 defense systems.
While the above comments are true and indeed Russia is largely to blame for helping Iran with their nuclear program, students of Bible prophecy know that Russia is definitely going to be a real loser in a future Israel-Iran confrontation. Thousands of years ago the Jewish prophet Ezekiel recorded a prophecy about an end times invasion led by Russia and Iran. In this invasion of Ezekiel 38-39 the Lord God of Israel dramatically intervenes and annihilates 5/6ths of the invading forces and even goes as far as to rain fire down on the Russian homeland. Russia has a fatal date with destiny. The long Russian history of anti-semitism and atheism will final draw a response and judgment from God when they join forces with the islamic hordes and try to destroy God's chosen people.
Keep watching and looking up, our redemption is drawing nigh.
