The Rapture Report - Syrian official: We will use all available means to recapture the Golan

Syrian official: We will use all available means to recapture the Golan

With all the fighting and commotion going on in the Middle East these days, it sure seems the region is ripe for changes in military positioning and posturing. One prophecy that Bible prophecy watchers have been fascinated by is the prophecy concerning the overnight destruction of Damascus, the world's longest constantly inhabited city in the world and one in which it's sudden destruction is foretold in Isaiah 17.

An article today caught my eye and made me realize that with the ISIS being pushed back some and Russia firmly planted in Syria, that the situation on the ground could be leading up to a potential clash over the Golan Heights. Even today, the U.S. affirmed their longstanding position that the Golan Heights issue must be resolved in negotiations. And a potential clash between Syria and Israel over the Golan Heights, could possibly drag Russia into it, setting up the stage for more prophetic fulfillment. Even the Arab League weighed in for Syria on the issue.

The Jerusalem Post is currently reporting that Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu has declared that the Golan Heights will forever belong to Israel. The article goes on to say:

Syria is prepared to use military means to recapture the Golan Heights, Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad said on Sunday, shortly after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel will never leave the strategic area. Netanyahu's comments came during a first-ever cabinet meeting held on the Golan Heights, a symbolic move designed to underscore Israel's claim to the area as UN-led peace talks on the future of Syria are being held in Geneva.

"The time has come for the international community to recognize reality," Netanyahu said at the opening of the meeting held at Ma'aleh Gamla. "First, that whatever will be on the other side of the border, the border will not change.

"Secondly," Netanyahu added, "the time has come, after 50 years, for the international community to finally recognize that the Golan Heights will remain forever under Israeli sovereignty."

Israel took the Golan Heights during the 1967 Six Day War, and in 1981 extended Israeli law to the region, thereby de facto annexing it. "I decided to hold this meeting on the Golan Heights to send a clear message," he said. "The Golan Heights will always stay in Israeli hands, Israel will never leave the Golan Heights."

While I believe it is very significant that Russia is entrenched into Syria like they are, this new reality on the ground with Russia in Syria seems to bring the possibility that prophetic events could move faster down the road. After all, the process of moving towards the time of Jacob's Trouble is oftentimes referred to being like birth pangs, with the intensity and frequency of these birth pangs increasing as time passes.

While I am not saying that Isaiah 17 or Ezekiel 38-39 are imminent, what I do believe is that we are seeing the first steps of events heading into that direction, which is why we should all pay attention to the Middle East now more than ever.

It wasn't long ago that people wondered how in the world Russia would get on the ground in Syria. Well, it didn't take long for us to find out over the past 6-9 months. I believe Russia is firmly planted in Syria and will go not go anywhere any time soon. I believe Russia's previous commitments to allies like Syria, etc. could put them squarely on the fatal road leading to Ezekiel 38-39.

As many Bible prophecy watchers know, there are a great deal of "ebbs and flows" in the situation on the ground in the Middle East. Just when it looks like things could explode, they seem to settle down. And just when things look quiet, things tend to explode. The only thing I think we can do is continue to watch Russia's presence in Syria very carefully. If the Assad regime is able to grab the reigns on Syria and regain control, there could be more "adventures" in store for Syria in trying to settle debts with Israel. The only thing about this is that the enemies of Israel have not factored in God of Israel, who neither sleeps nor slumbers. He is fully aware of the plans and plots of the enemies of His chosen people. Let remain sober and awake during this interesting times. As we see prophetic events moving into place, keep looking up, for your redemption draws nigh!

God bless.
