The Rapture Report - Netanyahu cancels trip to DC Nuclear Security Summit

Netanyahu cancels trip to DC Nuclear Security Summit
Written: 04-08-2010
Rapture Forum Staff: Chris

The Jerusalem Post is reporting today that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is calling off a scheduled trip to the United States to attend a nuclear summit being hosted by U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama. The Israeli PM is canceling his scheduled visit due to new information on the ground that has surfaced over the past twenty-four hours indicating that a group of Middle Eastern arab states were planning to use the nuclear summit as a means to pressure Israel into signing on to the nuclear NPT (non-proliferation treaty) and thereby putting Israel's suspected nuclear program under international inspections and possible disarmament. The Jerusalem Post article reports:

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will not attend next week's Nuclear Security Summit in Washington and is sending Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor instead, Army Radio reported Thursday. US sources informed Israel that a group of participating Arab countries led by Turkey and Egypt plan to use the summit to demand that Israel sign the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) and allow its alleged nuclear capabilities to be placed under international inspection.

Israel has a long history of not openly admitting to a nuclear weapons program and has always maintained a policy of "nuclear ambiguity" over it's alleged stockpiles of nuclear weapons. The Israelis do this simply because they need and must have an overwhelming edge against the various hostile neighbors that surround the Jewish state. Since it first declared independence on May 15, 1948 Israel has been attacked three times in 1948, 1967, and 1973. Each time Israel's neighbors tried to destroy the Jewish state. One of the only reasons there have not been more attempts to destroy the Jewish state since is that Israel developed their nuclear program shortly after 1973 and ever since the Islamic countries in the region have not dared to attack her again out of fear that Israel would use their nuclear weapons on them.

Over the past few days Israel had received assurances from the White House that they would not allow the upcoming nuclear summit to be used as a platform for Israel bashing and anti-semitic rhetoric. However, it appears that despite this promise from the White House, Netanyahu felt it would be best that he send Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor to the summit instead of attending himself. I am of the opinion that Netanyahu did not trust the White House to keep their word given the "rude and disgraceful" reception he experienced several weeks ago in Washington. While the summit is expected to feature 40 heads of state, the main issues to be tackled at the summit involve the issues of nuclear proliferation and keeping nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists.

It is being reported that the two countries that were to lead the anti-Israel pressure were Turkey and Egypt. With the constant anti-Israel rhetoric coming from Turkey since the conclusion of Operation Cast Lead in 2009, it is hardly surprising to hear that Turkey was one of the countries involved in this "conspiracy" to ambush Israel over the NPT. As many of you know, Turkey has been spouting horrible anti-semitic venom over the last few months that has practically reached a feverish pitch. Over the past several months we have seen Turkey take a serious and dramatic swing towards her Islamic brothers and sisters in the East. These developments have come amid the increasing influence that radical Islam is making in the traditionally secular government of Turkey. Over the past few months it has gotten so bad, that it appears that Iran and Turkey have taken turns promoting anti-Israel venom on alternating days.

While this increase in hostility from Turkey towards Israel continues to escalate and grow with each passing day, on a prophetic note Bible prophecy watchers should recognize that Turkey is simply setting herself up for the fulfillment of her prophetic destiny per Ezekiel 38-39. This prophecy by the ancient prophet Ezekiel foretells of a future end times invasion led by Russia which features a moslem coalition of which Turkey and Iran are prominent players. For the student of Bible prophecy, Turkey's sudden shift and spouting of anit-Israeli venom is just simply another sign of the end times that are getting more and more frequent with each passing day. As the radical Islamic elements in Turkish society continue to grab more and more power in Turkey, we can expect more of the same from Ankara until their destiny is fulfilled in Ezekiel 38-39.

Despite the terrible developments in the run up to the nuclear summit next week, there are some reports that showed that there were indeed some positive developments and a silver lining in the current situation. It is being reported by the Haaretz news website that Republicans have applauded Netanyahu's cancellation of his visit and blasted U.S. President Obama for his recent mistreatment of the Israeli PM. The Haaretz article reports:

In New Orleans, hundreds of party loyalists at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference applauded when they were informed Netanyahu had just canceled his visit to Washington. At the gathering, Liz Cheney, daughter of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, blasted Obama for his "shabby" treatment of Netanyahu at the White House recently, saying it was "disgraceful". She added: "Israel is our strongest ally in the Middle East and one of our strongest allies anywhere around this globe. And President Obama is playing a reckless game of continuing down the path of diminishing America's ties to Israel."

As we can see from the comments above Israel still has tremendous support from Republicans as well as a majority of the American population and that President Obama is not pulling the wool over people's eyes with his recent denials of mistreating Israel PM Netanyahu on his recent visit to the United States. I, for one, am glad that Netanyahu saw things for what they really are and did not give the anti-semites in the White House nor in the Middle East another soapbox in which to promote their Nazi styled propaganda against Israel. I believe Israeli PM Netanyahu made the right choice when he decided against coming to the U.S. for what would likely become a three ringed circus with Israel taking center stage and being "manhandled" by the Islamic forces. By canceling his visit Netanyahu has effectively cut the strings on the "big top" and the tent has fallen on those who had tried to trap Israel.

In a look at the "big picture" it is evident that the reason Turkey and Egypt would try to use the nuclear summit as a pressure tactic on Israel is that the enemies of Israel want to neutralize the effect of Israel's nuclear weapons. By trying to pressure Israel into signing the NPT they will get Israel to be subject to nuclear inspections and possible disarmament. This is exactly what the Middle Eastern countries want as they would then feel that they would not have to worry about Israel nuking them in the next invasion aimed at wiping the Jewish state off the map. This is simply a Satanic attack against Israel. The Jewish state is a peaceful state that does not invade it's enemies nor plunder it's neighbors unless it is attacked first, and even then it simply defends itself which it has the right to do. Once again the Islamists have tried to turn the tables on Israel and make them out to be the problem. Of course, we all know that Israel is not the problem. The problem is Islam and it's fanatical followers that wreck chaos in the world and we know who is behind all of that. Satan is a defeated enemy who is simply gasping for the last breath of air he can manage before his day of judgment is fulfilled.

Let us continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. That the plots and evil plans of Israel's enemies remain barren and do not produce any fruit. May the one true God of Israel continue to watch over her, as he neither sleeps nor slumbers. Let us continue to be watchmen on the wall as the Middle East situation continues to unfold here in the end times.

God bless.
