The Rapture Report - 'Gaddafi plans full-scale military action to crush rebels'

'Gaddafi plans full-scale military action to crush rebels'

A news article today in the Jerusalem Post reports that Libyan dictator and strongman Gaddafi is planning to hunker down and launch a full-scale military operation to crush the recent rebel uprising that threatens his 41 year reign of Libya. Gaddafi's son announced that the Libyan dictator had no plans to step aside and rejected a previous ultimatum by the rebels to leave the country within 72 hours. The Jerusalem Post article reports:

Libya is preparing full-scale military action to crush a rebellion and will not surrender even if Western powers intervene in the conflict, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's most prominent son, Saif al-Islam, said on Thursday. "It's time for liberation. It's time for action. We are moving now," he told Reuters in an English-language interview.

Asked if the government was preparing to step up its military campaign, he said: "Time is out now. It's time for action...We gave them two weeks (for negotiations)." "We will never ever give up. We will never ever surrender. This is our country. We fight here in Libya. The Libyan people, we will never ever welcome NATO, we will never ever welcome Americans here. Libya is not a piece of cake."

Further, US spy chief James Clapper estimates that in the end Gaddafi will triumph over the rebel uprising due to being better equipped for the long run. Couple this with the defiance of Gaddafi and we have a recipe for a long term conflict that won't be solved anytime soon. The biggest question is whether NATO and the West will intervene militarily to shorten the conflict and depose Gaddafi. Right now it looks as though the European powers are considering a "no-fly" zone for Libya but only if things go downhill fast for the civilian population.

Clapper, who oversees all 16 US intelligence agencies, told US lawmakers the rebels, who include civilians and dissident military units, were in for a "tough roll." He told the Senate Armed Services Committee that Gaddafi's forces were better equipped and had more logistical resources, and "over longer-term, that the regime will prevail."

Military analysts say the rebels, although relatively well armed, cannot match the firepower of Gaddafi's forces and lack the training to use the weapons they have seized from weapons depots. They are also disorganized and fragmented, with little real leadership. "Gaddafi intentionally designed the military so that those select units loyal to him are the most luxuriously equipped and (are) the best-trained and that is having a telling effect with the rebels," Clapper said. "We believe that Gaddafi is in this for the long haul," he said. "He appears to be hunkering down for the duration."

Without direct intervention by NATO, it looks as though the odds are that Gaddafi will be able to ride out this current situation that threatens his 41 year rule of Libya. Gaddafi's sons are directly coordinating the campaign to fight against the rebels and he will have their support to stay in power. Clapper's assessment is likely to put pressure on the West and especially US President Obama in order to do more to see the Libyan rebels succeed in toppling Gaddafi. One of the things that is interesting about the various uprisings in the Middle East is that it looks to me that dictators are being replaced with chaos and uncertainty which would be needed for certain prophetic events to take place. One of these events is the eventual rise of the Antichrist. It is hard for the Antichrist to take over the regions of the world or increase his influence when there are tons of dictators sitting around holding sway over large areas of the Middle East, which is probably the most volatile area in the entire world.

While NATO and the West debate what to do about Libya, it is being reported that all options are on the table to solve the crisis. This includes the possibility of NATO intervening militarily. This aspect is especially intriguing to me as the Antichrist will one day command his armies and the fact that NATO is largely made up of European forces that fall under the European Union, it is quite possible that the rise of NATO will occur as well as we end up seeing them become more involved in conflicts and so called "peace-keeping" operations like the removal of Gaddafi from power in Libya, I personally would not be surprised to see NATO get involved in the conflict, especially if things start getting worse for the rebels which they already have. We could in fact be witnessing the forces of the future Antichrist in action before our very eyes.

In other news in the region it is being reported that the Palestinian Authority is trying to pressure the MidEast Quartet, made up of the U.S., Russia, EU, and the U.N., into recognizing a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders. The Jerusalem Post reports:

The Palestinian Authority is working hard to convince the Quartet to issue a statement after its upcoming meeting in which it recognizes the two-state solution on the basis of the 1967 borders, Chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat said on Thursday. “Such a declaration must include recognition of east Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine and finding a just solution to the case of the Palestinian refugees on the basis of UN resolution 194,” Erekat said.

He denied that US special Middle East envoy George Mitchell was planning to visit Ramallah shortly for talks with Palestinian officials on ways of resuming the stalled peace process with Israel. “No one talked to us about such a visit,” Erekat said. “David Hale, who works as Mitchell’s assistant, will come to Ramallah together with representatives of the Quartet next week.”

As we can see here the Palestinians continue to make ridiculous demands of a state based on 1967 borders, a return of millions of refugees to Israel, east Jerusalem as a capital, etc. The return of millions of so called Palestinian "refugees" would flood what is left of Israel after any deal and would basically destroy the country from within. Any hopes to get talks back on the track will reply on the Palestinians to change their demands and get realistic in finding a solution to the crisis, otherwise conflict is surely guaranteed to occur. In fact, that is exactly what the Bible says will happen in Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17 as Israel's "inner-ring" of enemies will be ultimately defeated as a result of conflict.

The international community is trying to find more ways for Israel to make more concessions to get talks back on track, but with the demands being made that they are this will ultimately become an exercise in futility. There will be no way to get Israel to agree to all the demands of the Palestinians, Israel simply can't meet those demands and maintain their safety and security. This is simply a satanic plot to try to destroy Israel that will fall like all the rest of them have. Let us continue to pray for Israel and pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Things are getting very difficult in the region and Israel needs all the support that she can get at this time.

In the meantime, Let us continue to watch the drama as it unfolds in the Middle East and keep an eye out for things that could be of a prophetic importance. As we get closer and closer to the end of this age we can expect things to speed up like birth pains of a woman in travail. The recent chaos in the Middle East could surely be a sign that we are getting closer and closer to the Lord's rapture of the church. For this reason, let us continue to look up, for our redemption is drawing nigh. Stay Tuned!

God bless.
