The Rapture Report - Hezbollah pulls out of Lebanese goverment just before UN tribunal indictments

Hezbollah pulls out of Lebanese goverment just before UN tribunal indictments
Written: 01-12-2011

In a sign of growing desperation and last ditch effort to stop the UN tribunal indictments that were expected "within hours or days" the terrorist group Hezbollah pull out of the Lebanese coalition government headed by Saad Hariri. The UN is in the final stages of it's investigation of the 2005 assassination of Rafik Hariri that set the tone for the recent takeover of the Lebanese government about a year ago. Hezbollah and it's allies in the government comprise of approximately 30 percent of the current Lebanese government. The pullout of Hezbollah has now caused the Lebanese government to collapse which is actually what they aimed to do today. The Haaretz newspaper reports:

U.S. President Barack Obama expressed solidarity with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri in talks on Wednesday amid the collapse of his coalition government in Beirut. Obama and Hariri urged all parties to refrain from causing further instability, and the White House charged that Hezbollah's withdrawal from Lebanon's government showed its "own fear."

Obama also stressed the importance of a UN special tribunal "to help end the era of political assassinations with impunity in Lebanon." Ministers from the Hezbollah Islamist movement and its allies resigned while Hariri met Obama at the White House, toppling the government before expected indictments against the Shi'ite group over the 2005 killing of Hariri's father. Hariri cut his trip short and flew back to Lebanon right after talks with Obama.

Besides pulling out of the Lebanese government many observers say that depending on who is named in the UN tribunal indictments it could very well be that Hezbollah tries to set off a conflict with Israel in order to distract the UN from it's job. A conflict between Lebanon and Israel is not what the region needs right now. The Hezbollah terrorist organization is estimated to have tens of thousands of rockets and missiles in which to strike Israel with, some of which may contain chemical and biological weapons gained from Syria and Iran.

In light of Bible prophecy, it is possible though yet remains to be seen if the region is drawn into a conflict as a result of the UN tribunal indictments. One of the possible scenarios that Bible prophecy watchers are looking at is the potential for the fulfillment of Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 38-39 in which Israel defeats the terrorists and surrounding countries who have been so hostile toward Israel. Whether this prophecy plays out soon remains to be seen and may not occur, but the potential for it to be lighted is very real. While the Bible does not say exactly why the conflict occurs, the main objective of the Psalm 83 coalition is nothing less than the destruction of Israel so that "her name is remembered no more". That fits the bill of the current terrorist organizations efforts against Israel.

As we watch the UN tribunal indictments and report unfold, let us continue to pray for Israel and especially for the peace of Jerusalem. We know from the Bible that Israel will one day be restored, but first she will endure several conflicts of significant magnitude that will shake her to the core. But despite these facts, God will see his chosen people though their trials and tribulations. As Ezekiel 38-39 points out He will do this to magnify and exalt his Holy name. Stay tuned!

God bless.
